Script editing for branded content
Branded content has to do two jobs at once: be something people actually want to watch, and land a message for the brand. Most scripts get the second part right and struggle with the first. I help with both.
What script editing covers
- Structure. Does the story build? Is the reveal in the right place? Does the ending pay off?
- Tightening. Cutting what isn't earning its screen time, especially in short formats where every second counts.
- Clarity. Making sure the audience gets the idea first time, without the script explaining itself.
- Tone. Keeping the comedy consistent with the brand, and the brand consistent with the comedy.
- Development. Turning a strong premise into a script, or a draft into something ready to shoot.
How it works
Send me the script, the brief and the deadline. I read it, we talk it through (the first 2-hour session is free for new clients), and I come back with notes and suggested rewrites. Then we go round again until it's right. I'm quick, and flexible about how we collaborate: notes on the page, a call, or working through it live.
Why a comedy writer?
Even when a script isn't meant to be a comedy, the skills overlap: economy, rhythm, setting things up and paying them off. I'm a BAFTA-winning comedy writer, and I've worked on branded work for Alizé, adidas, Cartoon Network, Comedy Central, Dave, Disney XD, Don't Panic, E4, Habitat, Puma, Ubisoft and Warp Films.
