Forcing us to look at what money is and what we do with it is well worth £29 of anyone’s money, even mine. Hold on to the work, unless you are starving.

You’ve really got me thinking this morning. You’ve got to do a second one, Tails, 100 £1 coins showing the reverse side, limited edition again, charge £1.29p, for a comparison on take-up rates. I’d buy one of those also.

I wish Daniel every success in this project. The atmosphere tonight was warm, friendly and vibrant. The concept was fun and yet thought provoking. I have my piece of Daniels art…..And I wont be cutting it up. Juli

I really like this concept! Much better than a pickled sheep for example, and i’d rather display £1 in my house.

My interpretation of this project is ‘what is the value of money’. Its not about making 29p by buying one, its about the questions and deep thinking it produces! In reality, the cost of physically producing £1 is actually quite low, but society and market conditions decide what a pound is ‘worth’.

I’d love one of these to actually keep in my purse or frame really nicely in my apartment – sure it would remind me that things are only ‘worth’ what we’re willing to pay for them. I bet i’d buy a lot less expensive shoes on contemplation of my 71p pound!

Is there any way i can reserve one now for posting? I can make the launch night, but none of my friends can – don’t want to be a 71p spending loner! :-)

Are you really selling this art? Aren’t you technically giving it away?

Reply: Not really because I am not handing you money. I am exchanging my art for money and if you don’t pay 71p, you won’t be able to get one. Also, if you decide not to cut into the art and extract the pound, you wont be able to spend the money. You would’ve just bought my art for 71p.

I will have 1000 please, haha. Seriously though this is way more interesting as an idea than a medicine cabinet

I have to say, it makes a lot of sense. Speaking from experience, it’s so hard to put a price on art, what people are actually willing to pay for a piece of art, and what the work that went into it is worth. I think you’ve hit the nail on the head! :)
